Privacy Policy

Ethiqly ("we", "our", "the service") provides Shariah-compliant stock screening and portfolio tracking. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. It is written to comply with the UK GDPR and EU GDPR.

1. Who we are

Ethiqly is operated by the Ethiqly team. Contact: privacy@alphatrader.ai.

2. What data we collect

  • Account data — email address, hashed password, name (optional), username (optional), risk profile + trading experience (self-reported).
  • Investment data — the portfolio holdings, watchlists, alerts, scans, screener presets, custom indicators, and shared scans you create. These are stored only to render them back to you.
  • Subscription + billing data — if you pay for Pro or Premium, Stripe processes the payment. We store a Stripe customer ID + subscription state; we never see your card details.
  • AI input data — when you trigger AI stock or portfolio analysis, the relevant data is sent to OpenAI to generate the response. OpenAI's policy applies to that processing.
  • Technical data — IP address (rate limiting only), browser type, session cookies (for authentication).

3. What we DON'T collect

  • We don't use third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.).
  • We don't sell your data to anyone.
  • We don't run advertising. There are no tracking pixels.
  • We don't access your bank or brokerage accounts — portfolio data is what you enter manually.

4. Legal basis for processing

  • Contract — to deliver the service you signed up for (account, watchlists, portfolio, etc.).
  • Legitimate interest — fraud prevention, rate limiting, debugging server errors.
  • Consent — for any optional analytics or preferences cookies (you can manage this in the cookie banner).

5. Where data is stored

Our database (Postgres) and cache (Redis) are hosted on Railway in EU regions. Stripe processes payments globally according to their own privacy policy. OpenAI processes AI requests in the US.

6. How long we keep data

  • Active account data: as long as your account exists.
  • Subscription records: 7 years after account closure (UK tax law).
  • Server logs (IP + request data): 30 days for debugging, then purged.

7. Your rights

Under UK / EU GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate data (via Settings → Profile).
  • Delete your account and associated data.
  • Export your data in a portable format.
  • Object to or restrict processing.
  • Lodge a complaint with the ICO (UK) or your national supervisor.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@alphatrader.ai. We respond within 30 days.

8. Children

Ethiqly is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we'll email registered users at least 14 days before the change takes effect.
